After Care

Congratulations on your new tattoo!

At our tattoo studio, we understand that aftercare is just as important as the tattooing process. Proper aftercare is essential to promote the healing process and ensure that your tattoo looks its best for years to come.

Please follow these instructions to take care of your new tattoo:

1.

Leave gladwrap for 1-3 hours (or until you can get home).
Wash area with antibacterial soap, free from perfumes.
Rinse with cold water to close pores. Leave your tattoo to air dry (do not pat dry with towel as this can leave fibres).
Apply a VERY thin layer of specifically formulated TATTOO cream.
Do not re-wrap with gladwrap at ANY time, your tattoo needs to breathe!

2.

Wash and reapply tattoo cream 2-3 times per day.
After 5 days, apply cream whenever the tattoo seems dry.

3.

The healing process can last from 2 weeks to over a month, depending on the person. During this time:
– Stay healthy! Your body has been through a big process.
– Keep away from dirt/sweat/pet hair
– No sun, sand or swimming
– No tight-fitting clothes
– Do not pick at, or scratch
– Avoid movement that will stretch the tattooed area
– Do not soak the area, no baths or long, hot showers

4.

Once your tattoo is fully healed, try to avoid sun exposure as much as possible.
Avoid swimming, soaking in hot tubs, and excessive sweating until your tattoo is fully healed. These activities can cause damage to the ink and increase the risk of infection.

6.

Be patient!
It takes time for your tattoo to heal completely, so be patient and follow the aftercare instructions given by your tattoo artist. The tattoo may scab or peel, which is a normal part of the healing process. Do not scratch or pick at the tattoo as it can cause damage to the ink and delay the healing process.

Second Skin After Care

Second skin is a specially developed tattoo bandage that helps the healing process of your new tattoo and minimizes the risk of infection.
It will keep your body’s natural healing fluids locked in so your tattoo stays hydrated, heals quickly and efficiently with little scabbing.
It is also designed to let oxygen and water vapor to pass through for great breathability, whilst keeping bacteria, dirt and dust out.

REACTION TO SECOND SKIN IS VERY COMMON.
IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES PLEASE CONTACT YOUR ARTIST DIRECTLY

Second skin is to be used at your own risk. Do not use on sensitive skin or if you have had a reaction to medical tape.
In the first 24hrs there may be a build up of plasma, this is completely normal. There should be a good 1-inch seal around your tattoo at all times. If you see it is peeling close to your tattoo, remove the bandage to avoid any bacteria getting trapped inside.
After 4-5 days, remove the bandage. Find an edge and slowly pull back over itself in the direction of hair growth. You may find it easier to remove in a warm shower.
Once removed, apply a specialised tattoo cream twice a day or whenever it is feeling dry.
